Featuring electronic controls with a digital display, the GPU-28-CUP 28.5V DC Ground Power Unit is a very rugged, compact and silent Ground Power Unit, which provides 800 amps continuous and 2000 amps peak to provide power supply for starting aircraft. Its large engine ensures a good performance in the worst overload applications. The TLD GPU-28 features a brushless revolving field generator, rubber torsion axle-mounted chassis of rugged galvanized steel construction with fifth wheel steering and powdercoated sheet metal panels. The GPU-28 meets U.S. EPA 40CFR 1039.625 and California 13 CCR 2423(d) emissions standards for nonroad engines.

Generator Specifications (generator rectifier assembly) – TLD generator rectifier assembly directly provides 28.5VDC output. The generator has 2 sets of 400HZ main stator wings, one set connected in Delta and the other a low voltage AC generator (around 21 to 22 VAC). It is brushless, revolving field, self-cooling, and single bearing with rotating rectifier assembly.

Engine Controls: Modern diesel electronic engines with electronic engine governors provide precise frequency regulation and fast transient response. Engine protection such as low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, and over speed protection are programmed into the engine electronic control module. An engine diagnostic connector is provided for communicating with the engine. Automatic engine cool down and emergency shutdown are standard engine controls. Engine operating parameters are displayed with electronic gauges via SAE J1939 Controller Area Network, which include:
